The effort to re-segregate the Wake County Schools has been going on for a while now, but there have been a few recent stories that are bringing this issue to the attention of the rest of the country.
National news coverage isn’t entirely new. The NY Times covered the issue on February 27, 2010.
But new attention has been focused on Wake County this month. On January 12, 2011 the Washington Post ran a story, In N.C. a new battle on school integration, that was critical of the Wake County School Board.
And, in probably the best coverage of the story, Stephen Colbert summarized over a year’s worth of debate in about five minutes on his show last night.

Thank you, Stephen for getting right to the point of this issue.
